Educating in Faith the Heart, Mind and Soul
We are a private Catholic school operated by the Seton Foundation; we are not a diocesan or parish school. While we are a private entity, we are committed to being recognized as an authentic, Catholic school and have the support of our parish and Diocese.
From the beginning, Seton Academy has professed to be an “authentically Catholic” school. While that term has been used around the Diocese a lot recently, our Board feels it is important to define what we mean by the term.
The following are the aspects of Seton Academy that we feel makes our school “Authentically Catholic”:
• Welcoming environment accepting to all.
Seton Academy is committed to be accepting and warmly welcoming to all who wish to attend our school, regardless of background or religious affiliation.
• Engaged in the Catholic Community.
We will continuously look for ways to actively engage with clergy, people in the consecrated life, Catholic groups (e.g. Homeschool Network, Knights of Columbus, etc.) and our local parishes.
• Catholic Faith integrated into Curriculum.
The resources we use to facilitate our curriculum will be based on the Catholic faith and will reinforce the values, morals, and teachings of the Catholic church.
• Highly Qualified, practicing Catholic Faculty & Staff.
We firmly believe faculty and staff need to understand their faith in order to teach it. We seek individuals who are committed to and are actively engaged in the Catholic faith. This will undoubtedly be a challenge, but one we are committed to for the environment of our school and the formation of our students.
• Celebrate and Actively Engage in Church Traditions.
We will have daily prayer, attend mass consistently, learn about and prepare for the sacraments, learn about the Saints and celebrate Feast Days.
We hope this provides clarity on the phrase. We know the terminology can be perceived differently depending on a person’s perspective and interpretation, so we want to be as clear as possible as we get established
