To be recognized as a premiere authentically Catholic School whose students understand their God given gifts, achieve their full potential and become a transforming influence in the world.
Seton Academy is a private Catholic school established and operated by the Seton Foundation. The Seton Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Seton Academy was established to offer a classical, faithful, rigorous educational opportunity to students and families in the greater Rochester community. We are currently in our inaugural year and serve children Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. While we are not a Diocesan or Parish school, we deeply desire to be recognized as an authentic Catholic school. We work closely with the Diocesan Superintendent and area clergy to truly provide a faithful, moral environment aligned with the Catholic faith. We believe this structure (private entity with strong, collaborative partnerships) is the ideal model for providing the best possible educational solution. Having a fiduciary Board with a singular focus allows for timely and appropriate decision-making and strategy. Close collaboration with the Diocese and those in the consecrated life provide the assurance of a true, faithful experience glorifying our Lord. Seton Foundation is committed to fostering an environment where the Catholic faith is central to the educational philosophy of our school. We are proud of our Catholic faith and want to educate our students in that faith as an extension of your families and our parishes. Our committed faculty and volunteers have adopted a new, authentically Catholic curriculum that follows our motto of "Educating in Faith the Heart, Mind and Soul" of our students. The pre-liberal arts curriculum is challenging and will ready our students to discover God's truth through faith and reason. Seton Academy will instill and uphold Catholic morals and values while welcoming all who wish to attend regardless of their faith or background
In March of 2022, the decision to close St. Elizabeth Seton school at the end of the 2021 – 2022 school year was communicated to parents and families. The next closest alternative for a traditional Catholic education was in Dover, NH. Many families could not make that commitment. A small group of people came together and decided to establish a new school. Through collaboration with other successful schools and organizations in the area, the Seton Foundation was formed and began the work to establish and operate Seton Academy. After defining some strategic parameters for what the Board desired for Seton Academy, subcommittees were created to address several, aggressive tactical initiatives in order to be open by September 2022:
In just 3.5 months, through the grace of God, the teams and Board were able to successfully achieve the goals of each of these subcommittees and Seton Academy was open for business at the beginning of the 2022 – 2023 academic year. The school obtained its DOE License on August 11th, 2022. His Excellence Bishop Libasci granted permission for the school to use the classroom space of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary parish for its initial year of operation. An enrollment process and associated forms were created and rolled out to prospective families. A brand-new curriculum was researched, recommended, purchased and implemented. Finally, the school was blessed to secure 8 experienced, practicing Catholic faculty and staff.
